Probably should add that this player becomes my equal best bowler and equal second best batsman immediately in my quest to remain in Youth 1.1

Seems like an ok buy for your squad. Will not cut it to the senior squad unfortunately.

Nope, not even close to the standard of player required at 20 to make my seniors...sadly, Season 11 was one of terrible Youth pulls, and I am more likely to grow my talent than purchase from TM, only buying players if necessary
If this season goes pear-shaped, I think I may change my strategy to concentrate on my seniors

Caused a stir in the rip off thread, but I'm more than happy with Abbas for $210K:
Zaheer Abbas >> Details Player Info
26 years old | 43,019 rating | $16,563 wage
Right hand batsman | Right arm Finger spin Talents Skilled (Technique) Nationality Bermuda Bermuda Form reasonable Fatigue rested Experience accomplished Captaincy ordinary Skills Summary Batsman spectacular Bowler ordinary Keeper ordinary Allrounder average Notes came to me with no pop and on batting tech. Skills Batting exceptional Endurance capable Bowling poor Technique exceptional Keeping poor Power poor Fielding average
He's on power training to reasonable... where he'll play the anchor role just fine... then it's fielding to accomplished.

Indeedy. Can see why he caused a stir!
But his Power training is strongest right now. By 27/28 you might just have a bargain

his first innings for the team was a friendly on Sunday, slow/cloudy: Z. Abbas st Mukti b Modi 79 92 4 4 85.8
Seems fine to me, he top scored and given we got 247, that SR was plenty good enough.

Power is over rated IMO, i don't see the point in every player having massive amount of power unless playing T20, in SOD i think 2 or 3 is fine the rest to have reasonable power is fine IMO. allows you to have higher tech and fielding or endurance on selected players to play a certain role.
I think its a bad idea to try and train every player to smash 100 runs of 17 balls, specially as most games seem to be played on bowler friendly pitches.

While I agree with most of what you said... not this bit. power is gold and if anything underrated. However, its all about roles and not all roles need uber power.

I somehow used to believe that power was over-rated.. but now I am training quite a few players in strength. Although I cannot make out the difference, my team as a whole has generally improved last season.

Although I cannot make out the difference, my team as a whole has generally improved last season. If you correlate power to SR, you'll see very little effect, but I actually find it helps the average... I suspect because they are capable of scoring faster reliably, they don't need to push too much to score at the rate the ME determines they need to. The lower power guys get out slogging to maintain 5rpo, but the high power ones can do that without pushing.
