Pieterson injured and sent home, massive blow for the poms there. I agree, but not for the reason most will think it. We will badly miss his bowling, none of the other batsmen bowl occasional spin, a few bowl reasonable medium pacers (Bopara, Bell and Trott) but not spin... though I remember Colly bowling offspin a few years ago in a test. I hope this means we start playing Tredwell, but what it really does is make me think we've messed up not bringing Rashid on.

Yardy looked alright when he toured over here. Sure he doesn't really spin it and he doesn't take wickets. But he restricts well and on the flat pitches over there you need to reduce the runs as much as possible. but the last few games he has bowled shockingly bad! We need another wicket taker and Yardy doesn't get many! Yardy is great at what he does, keep it tight on flat dead pitches... where going for 4-5 rpo is excellent, but on a spinning deck, a spinner who doesn't spin the ball is a liability (hence KP bowled 5 overs)... eg Yesterday vs SA. As for Monty, his fielding is a much bigger issue in ODI's and on flat pitches is a nightmare (fielding is why we lost to Ireland and nearly to the Dutch). His batting is a really nice cover drive... that he palys to any delivery, no matter where it is aimed.

We just need a 2nd spinner who will take the wickets. As you say, why is Rashid not here ?
Anyone will do. But not Yardy in my opinion.

Yardy's just fine, unfortunately he's not a spinner.

I think Tredwell is too old. We should have tooken Rashid, hes pretty soid with the bat! Tredwell just looks old though, he's younger than probably half the squad tbh. Rashid looks alright but he's pretty inexperienced to be playing in a WC for one of the nations pushing for the title.

I think Tredwell is too old. We should have tooken Rashid, hes pretty soid with the bat! 100% agreement... And infact when KP got injured I said to anyone who'd listen that was the time to give Rashid a call. Rashid is almost Collingwood good at fielding too.

Can't wait till I get to see some actual cricket. Only Australia's matches are on free TV at the moment and thats only one game per week. Add to that last Saturday against SL was a washout so hardly any cricket was played, can't believe I have to wait till Sunday to see another match..

Something good about Indian channels is that we get to watch most of the cricket matches. We have coverage of matches played in Aus, NZ, Eng, SL, SA, WI and India. Not all is on free TV, but most of us have cable or DTH.

It was a spin paradise. Greame Smith brought the spinners too late.

It was a spin paradise. Greame Smith brought the spinners too late. Seamers 10 wickets Spinners 6 wickets You wouldn't have thought so looking at the stats, although I didn't watch the game myself. Anyway its always good to see India beaten on their batsman's paradise pitches. Confirms to me that they won't win the WC because they only have a 1 man bowling attack.

Ireland v South Africa
Hoping for an interested game. Tired of the one-sided affairs that have been played out in the last few days.

England bring another South African Player, Jade Dernbatch. Ive heard hes the leading Wicket Taker for the Lions recently. Lets see what he can do. I doubt i they will let him play as they have Tremlett
